Usability Testing Recruitment Email

Sending a usability testing recruitment email can be difficult to formulate. You want to give participants enough motivation to complete it – for example, showing that their feedback is impactful or that they’ll be compensated. More importantly, giving simple and intuitive directions are important. Emails are a painless way to convey those messages. Unlike phone calls, which are more intrusive and bothersome. We’ve included copyable templates for all recruitment needs.

Moderated Usability Testing Recruitment Email

Moderated interviews are great for speaking to participants about complex topics and assessing website navigation and usability. Interviews are typically between 30-60 minutes. Anything longer will create tester fatigue.

Moderated Reminder Email

Since moderated interviews involve speaking to testers directly via video conferencing software or in-person, it’s helpful to remind participants of their session. It’s recommended to send two reminder emails – one 24 hours prior to the session, and another 4 hours prior to the session.

Hi [Name],

Just a friendly reminder of your upcoming research session on [day & time]

If you have any conflicts, please reply to this email.

Please join the session 5 minutes before your scheduled time to ensure everything is working.
